Fóia is the highest point in the Algarve, located in the Monchique mountains. It is accessible by road from the village of Monchique. It is 902 m above sea level and has a topographic prominence of 739 m[1] and a topographic isolation of 172.69 km (the nearest highest peak is Almonaster in Spain).
On clear days it is possible to see the Atlantic Ocean. At the top of Fóia are the main telecommunications transmission equipment for the Algarve region (the others, for reinforcement, are located on Cerro de São Miguel).
